Old Fashion Maple Pie Saves the Day

It’s the day before Valentine’s Day and the clock is ticking. You’ve planned nothing for your sweetheart, and you are almost out of time… Don’t despair, you can make your sweetie something truly delectable with just 5 ingredients, in 5 steps, and just 5 minutes cook time. You are saved.

This pie originally was a French Canadian pie, but we’ve found that using pure Vermont Maple syrup, in particular, Snowshoe Pond or Rock Maple Syrup, does wonders to enhance the outcome. (No bias here what-so-ever.)

Ingredients:

• 1.5 cups of Snowshoe Pond or Rock Maple Syrup

• 1 cup of heavy cream

• 1/4 cup cornstarch

• 1/4 cup cold water

• 9″ pre-baked pie shell

If you’re looking for a garnish, try crumbling some maple candied nuts on top. How do you maple candy nuts? Cook maple syrup, nuts of your choice, and a pinch of salt in a non-stick pan and stir constantly until the syrup has caramelized/coated the nuts and there’s no liquid left in the pan (2-5mins). Separate them out on wax paper and let cool.
